This guide is for customers who’ve signed up for British Gas Lite. If you’re a British Gas business customer, move forwards to the British Gas business website.
We hope you choose to stay with us. We’ll detail your renewal options in your email, and you can also see your new prices and compare our plans in your online account.
Your broker (if you have one) may be able to assess your needs and help you choose the right product for your business.
Some customers have agreed a contract with their broker known as a Do-it-for-you service. If you’ve chosen this option, your broker will switch you to a new contract when your current one is due to be renewed.
We don’t auto-renew customers. If you haven’t made other arrangements at the end of your contract period, you’ll be moved onto our Variable Price Plan. With our Variable Price Plans you won’t be tied in, but you’ll need to pay any outstanding bills before you leave. Your prices won’t be fixed but we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice before making any change to your prices. For more information about our Variable Price Plan please see our terms and conditions.
Once you’re on our Variable Price Plan, you can move to a Fixed Energy Plan by speaking with our webchat team.
If you want to switch suppliers, you'll need to tell us 30 days before you want to leave and pay any outstanding bills.
If you have any questions about renewing your business gas or electricity, please log in to your online account and chat with our UK based team. We can help you with your options.
You’ll need to tell us 28 days before you move or if your business is closing down. We’ll need to know who will be responsible for the premises when you leave. This may be the Landlord of the premises or a new owner or tenant.
We’ll also need your final meter readings and your forwarding address to send your final invoice to.
